VBA Programs

We aim to foster an environment of mutual respect among students, faculty, and parents, in a highly interactive, artistic, multi-faceted community of learners. We believe that students can excel when the learning is tailored to their style and ability. Heavy emphasis is given to one on one and small group instruction, peer direction, MSLA, technology training, adaptive PE and movement, as well as therapeutic arts, crafts, music, our Edible Schoolyard garden project, and the overall nurturing and creative atmosphere that we seek to cultivate every day here.

Edible Schoolyard

Our Edible schoolyard project involves students in all aspects of farming the garden and preparing, serving, and eating food as a means of awakening their senses and encouraging awareness and appreciation of the transformative values of nourishment, community, and stewardship of the land.

Adaptive pe

The goal of adaptive Physical education is to demonstrate to our students the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. They have the opportunity to develop fundamental motor skills necessary for participation in sports with peers. Active involvement enhances self-esteem, self-image, and Increased physical independence.

arts program

The Art Program is an exciting exploration in self-expression. The goal of this course is for the students to establish confidence in themselves and their ability to express.

chess Club

Beginners can receive one-on-one training from the club adviser or an experienced club member. Students can utilize books in the club library or software on classroom computers for practice and training along with numerous free online chess resources. Members will complete weekly chess puzzles and challenges from the club adviser. Students can attend special talks from guest speakers and players. Club tournaments are designed to be a friendly, yet challenging means for members to test their skills against one another.
